Jakob Mairl bought the village inn Anewandter – back then, still a farm with just five guest rooms, which also housed the post office and even a small shoemaker’s workshop. The village inn. In the centre of the village, at the heart of daily life.

The war years also left their mark on Villa Ottone. Soldiers were often accommodated in the house. Only after the war did a sense of normality and a small measure of prosperity begin to return.

Jakob’s son Max Mairl took over the business. Tourism around Plan de Corones and in the Valle Aurina began to grow – and with it, the Anewandter. Step by step, the small inn developed into a hotel. New ideas took shape, including the plan to relocate the farm – with an eye to the future.

Approval was granted to relocate the ”Anewandter Hof“. From then on, the hotel and farm developed independently – and yet they remained closely connected.

The house continued to grow with new guest rooms and a wellness area that provides space for relaxation. A renovation that not only provided comfort but also shows how carefully the Anewandter evolved: with sensitivity, never in haste.

After a renovation, the new farmstead was ready. Four lovingly designed holiday apartments are added. Soon after, a lift was installed in the hotel. It may sound minor, but it reflects the very essence of the house: the guests’ needs always in focus – without making a fuss.

Martin Mairl took over the hotel business from his parents and has since run it together with his wife Monika and a wonderful, dedicated team. With warmth, reliability, and a deep understanding of your needs.

The rooms are modernised. The garden becomes a haven of calm. Pavilions are built, creating space for encounters, for balmy summer evenings, for quiet moments. Further renovations follow – always with an eye for what feels good.

With great attention to detail and a refined sense for atmosphere and charm, we made our house even more welcoming and homely through careful renovations: two new traditional South Tyrolean parlours were added, the ”Anewandter-Suiten“ were also added. That was followed by a comprehensive renovation: suites, reception, bar, dining room, kitchen, outdoor areas – many elements take on a new expression. The traditional parlours of the Stubenwelt was extended, the overall look gained clarity, style and lightness.

From summer 2025, there will be further improvements: A new wellness area with saunas, a stylish indoor pool, additional suites and rooms with modern comforts.
The infrastructure is also being updated – with an underground car park, a fitness room, and new areas for skis, bikes and equipment.

The Anewandter stays in tune with the times – with careful thought, an eye for detail, and always with the desire to make your stay even more enjoyable. Some things have changed. The feeling remains.
And so we continue our journey – step by step. Without the need to be loud. And without losing sight of the character of the house.
What awaits you.
The Anewandter is a place that doesn’t stand still – and yet stays true to itself. A house that has evolved, without losing its way. With spaces, that have been newly designed , yet still radiate the same warmth. And with people who embody exactly that: reliability, attentiveness, and heartfelt hospitality.
Our philosophy is simple – and perhaps that’s what makes it special:
hospitality that comes from the heart. A house run with love. And a team that has worked together for many years – and makes that clearly felt.
You can feel it in the atmosphere too:
traditional elements meet clean lines, natural wood meets refined fabrics, cosiness meets modern lightness.
The result? Not a rigid design concept in stone. But a home from home. In the best possible sense.
