The Tauferer Ahrn Valley is well-known through out South Tyrol as a paradise for outdoor sports enthusiasts. Here you will find a very broad array of leisure time activities for every taste/to suit anyone's taste and preferences: Experience long hikes through the Riesenferner-Ahrn natural reserve, mountain climbing or summit tours to one of the over 84 tenthousand foot mountains or to the 183 alpine huts catering to the wayfarer. You will also notice wonderful paths for walks and for Nordic Walking.

There are many more opportunities for the sports enthusiast in the Ahrn Valley, for example hang-gliding and paragliding, mountain bike tours, river rafting on the Ahr river, canyoning, free horseback riding at the Anewandter Farm, fishing, climbing in the high wire garden, swimming in the natural lake at Gais (easy to reach by bicycle), horse trekking, as well as tours with experienced mountain and hiking guides.

The possibilities are countless and diverse. Among others, we arrange for excursions to the lake in Kaltern, to the spa town of Merano with the beautiful gardens at the Trauttmansdorff castle, to the Bozen archeology museum featuring "Ötzi", to Prettau's mining museum, to the Luttach nativity scene museum Maranatha, extended sightseeing tours through the Dolomites and many excursions to other points of interest.

The vacation region Tauferer Ahrntal extends a special offer to all summer guests with its "Guest Card Tauferer Ahrntal", the guest card for the region; this way all guests may be able to enjoy a vacation without ever using their car.
The guest card serves as a regular ticket on all public bus systems, as admission ticket to many museums and offers many other perks. You may also use the cable railways in the hiking areas Klausberg and Speikboden free of charge.

The guest card is valid for 7 days and can be purchased at the tourism office at a price of 35 Euro for adults and 20 Euro for children ages 7-16. There is no charge for children up to 6 years of age. The reception desk staff will be happy to provide you with further information.

From the beginning of June until the end of August, the natural lake at the outskirts of Gais is a popular meeting place/venue. The young and the young at heart enjoy the sunshine on the large, well-kept meadow.
It is a short bicycle trip via the bike path from the Hotel Anewandter and the Anewandter Farm to the lake; both locals and vacationers frequent this lake. Families with children in particular appreciate the clear layout of the facility and the shallow waters - not to mention there are no admission fees to be paid. The popularity of the lake is reflected in the large attendance on hot days. The "Pirata-Bar", a bar in the shape of a pirate's ship, offers refreshing cold beverages.

You can set out on smaller hiking tours right from the hotel and farm. There are many options, here just two of them: take the Gais "Cultural path" or just go the round-about course from Gais via Neuhaus castle and back to Uttenheim.
